AVR JTAG ICE is a complete set of on-chip debugging tools based on the JTAG interface based on the AVR Studio+iccavr of Atmel (supporting WINAVR embedded studio programming), supporting a microprocessor with a JTAG port for all 8 bit RISC instructions of AVR. The JTAG interface is a 4 wire test access port (TAP) controller that conforms to the IEEE 1149.1 standard. The IEEE standard provides an effective standard method for circuit board connectivity testing (boundary scan). Atmel's AVR device has expanded its support for full programming and on-chip debugging.
The AVR JTAG emulator is used to simulate the hardware of the chip, such as the single step of the program, the setting of the breakpoint and so on. By the hardware simulation, the detailed operation of the program in the chip can be understood. The AVR JTAG emulator is mainly used to simulate the chip, and it can also program the chip through the JTAG interface (write the program to the chip).
